I am a Criminal Defence Lawyer and Managing Partner at Savage Oykhman Law, Edmonton Branch. Savage Oykhman Law is a Full Service Criminal Defence Law Office, with central offices in Edmonton, Calgary, Toronto, and Victoria.
Client Centered Philosophy
Having been born and raised in Edmonton, I have strong roots in this city and province, and feel privileged to be able to serve my community. My philosophy is to empower my clients to make informed decisions about their matters by providing objective research-based legal opinions. To that end, I stay on top of the latest developments and trends in the criminal field of practice by:
Reviewing the latest and most relevant court decisions,
Organizing and attending criminal law seminars and conferences,
Presenting on topics at criminal law seminars organized by the Criminal Trial Lawyers Association, and
Keeping informed of developments to the Criminal Code and related statutes.
This, of course, is in addition to mentoring and supervising our legal team, and consulting with our legal partners across the country.
Community Involvement and Outreach
I am currently the President of the Criminal Trial Lawyers Association in Edmonton, Alberta. This role allows me to advocate for all accused persons and defence lawyers throughout Alberta on various issues involving all stakeholders in the criminal justice system. I attend regular meetings with stakeholders at the Provincial Court and Court of Queen’s Bench as a voice for the criminal defence bar in northern Alberta.
Recently, I have become a regular guest on CTV’s Alberta Primetime, Crime Panel (as well as various other media streams), providing commentary on high profile cases to various media outlets. These are excellent opportunities to educate the public about criminal law in general, about their rights, and to raise awareness of political or systemic issues affecting an accused’s due process in law.
Education, Awards, and Career Path
I obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with distinction from the University of Alberta in 2000. After a few years working in the private sector, I went to law school knowing that I wanted to be a criminal defence lawyer. I attended Queen’s University Law School as they offered many courses in criminal law and supervised the Queen’s Legal Aid clinic, which offers legal services to low-income residents. I volunteered and worked for Queen’s Legal Aid in all three years of law school, obtaining the Robinson-Ryan Award for service in my final year of law school in 2007.
After articling at a prestigious criminal law office and becoming licensed to practice law in Alberta in 2008, I have represented clients in all three levels of court in Alberta. I have also represented clients in Saskatchewan and Ontario. In 2017, I decided to strike out on my own by opening the Savage Oykhman Trial Lawyers branch office in Edmonton.

Danielle was incredibly professional and effective in the defense of my case. But more than that, she really listened and tried to help me personally. She was kind, honest and open when it came to my specific situation. I appreciate her sense of humanity. It wasn’t just a paycheck. She made me feel like I’m worth it and my life is worth it. Thank you for caring and for putting in the effort Danielle!! I couldn’t have done this on my own.
I found myself charged with crimes I couldn’t understand. Danielle heard of my predicament and offered to take the case with a payment arrangement that I could manage. Her friendly professionalism helped ease my nerves and her confidence that she could help put this matter behind me was unshakeable. The end result was I still have a clean record and faith that there is help available for those who need it.
Danielle Boisvert was my lawyer and I appreciate her professionalism and speedy responses. Danielle made me feel very comfortable throughout the whole process and gave me the confidence that things would be taken care of. In no time at all Danielle told me the good news that she had successfully withdrawn my charges. Please contact Danielle Boisvert if you are facing criminal charges, you will not be disappointed!
Anny Wang was my defence attorney. I had never been in trouble with the law before but I found myself facing criminal charges. I had no idea what to do or what was going on. She took the time to explain everything to me and made time to answer my many questions. I took her advice at every turn and made me feel a lot better about going to trial. I felt prepared and knew what to expect. She got all the charges dropped just like she had predicted. She did an amazing job in court and out. I highly recommend Anny Wang to anyone facing criminal charges and needing legal counsel. Thanks again Anny Wang for everything you did!
