About Elizabeth Weisenburger
I am a Calgary lawyer practicing exclusively in the area of criminal defence with Oykhman Criminal Defence Law. I am empathetic, driven, and passionate about advocating on behalf of my clients facing criminal charges.
I received my Bachelor of Law from the University of Calgary with the following distinctions:
- Dean’s List Standing
- Cecilia Johnston Equality Award
- Gary J Bigg Memorial Award in Advocacy
- Represented the University of Toronto at the Gale Cup Moot Competition
I remain actively involved with the University of Calgary Faculty of Law. I assisted in the creation of the Criminal Justice Clinical Course, which provides advocacy for individuals incarcerated at Alberta Penitentiaries. I currently contribute to this clinical program as a regular guest lecturer, and as an advising lawyer overseeing student work on files.
I am also an active member of Student Legal Assistance (SLA), a non-profit poverty law clinic at the University committed to access to justice in the Calgary area. I was highly engaged with SLA throughout my studies, and currently give back to the organization as a volunteer lawyer at evening clinics.
Prior to studying law, I graduated from the University of Victoria with distinction, and received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, with a minor in Film Studies. I subsequently received a Master of Arts in Political Science from McMaster University, where I maintained a 4.0 grade point average throughout my term of study. In my spare time, I train in aerial acrobatics.
