About Chris Massey
Chris joined the firm in 2004 and has been a partner since 2009. The focus of his practice is criminal defence and professional discipline.
In his criminal defence practice, Chris has successfully defended clients against a wide variety of criminal charges, including:
- Drug possession and trafficking
- Aggravated assault
- Sexual assault
- Weapons offences
- Impaired driving
- Property offences
Chris has successfully represented clients at all levels of Court in British Columbia and in the Supreme Court of Canada.
Chris has extensive criminal trial experience, but a key focus of his practice is working with clients to find alternative means of resolving criminal allegations. Chris has successfully negotiated the withdrawal of criminal charges without the need for trial for many clients.
Chris graduated from the University of Victoria Law School in 2002. He clerked for the Justices of the Supreme Court of British Columbia in Victoria before being called to the bar in January 2004. Chris served as counsel to the 2007 Judges Compensation Commission and as Victoria County Representative to the BC Branch of the Canadian Bar Association from 2011 to 2013.
